NPC Solves California Water District Pump Installation Challenge

Anyone who has worked on a major construction project knows that challenges will arise — and that a dedicated team effort can help overcome them. In this case, installation of a submersible NSF-61 pump for a California water district was faced with a time constraint, as the first two installations did not go as planned.

The submersible 10HC-3 (1500 gpm @ 555 ft, 300 HP) serves the purpose of supplying drinking water to all the campgrounds surrounding several lakes. Unfortunately, the first two attempts at installation proved unsuccessful, and NPC was asked to supply replacement bowl assemblies on a quick-ship basis. NPC’s Jeff Elliott also offered his expertise to aid in the installation.

This pump, contained in the cage shown, is mounted in a horizontal position, which is rare for a “vertical” turbine pump.

The third installation, supervised by NPC’s Jeff Elliott, proved to be the cure. The pump is now operating successfully, just in time for the summer heavy-use period.
